Skinks

Pink tongued skinks (Tiliqua gerrardii)

We have baby pink tongues in abundance this year!

Babies like the one shown here (and those below) are about 8cm long and feed on a mixture of fruit, dog food, mealworms and snails.

Generally nocturnal, these skinks are one of only two prehensile tailed skinks in the world, and use their tails for balance when climbing.

As adults, pink-tongued skinks can attain a length of between 35-40 centimetres, and make very hardy, manageable captives.
